Little Learner Preschool is patterned after some of the best university preschool programs, but also incorporates my own love of children’s literature. Therefore, our preschool themes and activities are planned around fantastic books that help the children expand thinking and listening skills, creativity, and interaction with one another.
You will quickly see that your child will experience many things about their world through the positive and creative hands-on opportunities they have to learn. Each week your child will be exposed to math, reading, science, art, music and poems, cooking, and small and large muscle coordination activities. Free play and having opportunities to interact with one another are also important aspects of their preschool day. Although your child will be exposed to written letters and phonic sounds, given opportunities to learn sight words and blending letter sounds together, my focus for preschool is to enhance the natural love of learning and discovery that children are born with while helping them to gain confidence in their abilities as we prepare them for Kindergarten.
Other special highlights of Little Learner Preschool include:
- Little Learner Memories Book that will contain ABC pages made by him/her and whole language stories created and illustrated by them. These books will be treasured for years to come.
- The take-home reading program gives your child the opportunity to bring home reading material that sets the pattern of being excited to read every day. I also give your child a book every month to keep for their own personal collection of books. I believe firmly in the quote, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
- Our local excursions to various establishments are another exciting part of preschool. It does require help from parents with transportation, but it is well worth the extra effort.
- We will also continue having “Parent & Me” days. “Parent & Me” days are special excursions that require a parent to accompany their child to larger excursions such as the zoo, dinosaur museum, etc. Most “Parent & Me” days are on a Friday. You will have a 3-4 week notice about the upcoming “Parent & Me” days so that you can plan to join in the fun.
